This past Christmas I really wanted to get my girls a Barbie House as they have been playing with Barbies a lot recently (even with my childhood ones). My husband and I felt that we should not spend $100+ on a "cheap" plastic doll house.
We had a dresser that has been handed down through the years, but the drawers just were not working properly anymore. Instead of trashing it - we turned it into a Barbie House for the girls! My husband painted, wallpapered, put carpet, wood & tile flooring all in it.
This dresser originally had 5 drawers. We took 2 out per floor. We left the 5th drawer in the dresser for the storage of Barbies, clothes & accessories.
Thanks for reading,
Jen
Jenn that is beautiful!! I am sure the girls will get pleanty of hours of fun with their barbie house!! Great idea!! Aunt Alison
ReplyDeleteI love it! And I think it's way better than a barbie dream house because it's so personal. I am going to remember this!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job! I bet they love it...it also it makes a great keepsake for later. Lucky girls.
ReplyDeleteWow love it!!! Really good idea. Thanks. Ella has been wanting one as well and the store ones are so expensive, so if you don't mind I wanta steal the idea for ella. I'm sure we have something kick around my parents for a dresser and we have lots of wood to do the floor. Wow I so love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Melinda - go for it! That is why I shared it to show how inexpensive something like this can be by using the resources that we have. Have fun with it. I would love to see what it looks like when you finish it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and it's the best kind of present I think because you were thinking of them and it was out of your love for them that you spent the time to do it, they will always remember it and the times playing with it!!
